DESCRIPTION:First Parish Church Green Team invites people to Ellis Square o
 n Sunday\, October 4\, 2-4pm\, to participate in harvesting milkweed seeds
  from their pods\, to bag them for distribution throughout our community.\
 n\nMany of you know the importance of milkweed in the lifecycle of the mon
 arch butterfly.  It is the only plant that the monarchs lay their eggs\, 
 and which the caterpillars need to eat for protection against predators (t
 he sap is toxic to their predators).  The habitat has been dwindling and 
 we can all do our part to expand that habitat.\n\nSteve Hoy’s milkweed m
 eadow has over 50 milkweed pods that need harvesting.  The seeds in the p
 ods need to be separated from their fluff (called coma) and bagged with pl
 anting instructions.  Steve will offer guidance in this process.\n\nSocia
 l distancing and masks will be required.\n\nPlease notify the office  at

 0-6202 ahead of time so we prevent overcrowding and prepare Ellis Square
