At First Parish In Beverly, we seek to create a welcoming environment for children of all ages that invites participation in the community at large while giving them the autonomy and freedom to create a space that can be uniquely their own.

Our Sunday Services are always welcome to all ages.  What does that look like in practice? Our sanctuary has dedicated space for wiggly bodies to move, non-traditional seating options, and activities to keep hands busy and minds clear.  Children are invited to sit up front with or without their adults; setting a curious and playful example of engagement. There are toys, fidgets and simple activities available, cushions and a table. We encourage anyone who would benefit to use these materials, and to move about as needed.  Our congregation is moving away from spiritual practices that require still, quiet bodies.  We encourage you to get comfortable, to engage as it suits you, and to show up as authentically as you are able.

We start every service together in the sanctuary as a multigenerational community and light our chalice together. Our service includes a “time for all ages” practice before our children head to the classrooms downstairs to attend Sunday Seekers.  These weekly practices facilitate intergenerational relationship building through a playful, creative and accessible lens.

One service a month is entirely dedicated to multigenerational programming.  These services are designed to be inclusive for all ages, and often have opportunities for active participation from youth, so we do not have separate class offerings during that time.
