Youth Faith Development Coordinator
Hours
- Youth programs are typically 2-3 Sunday afternoons and evenings per month, September-June.
- Your schedule will be set in cooperation with the minister and youth families. Some hours in person, with flexibility to do program planning from home.
Rate
- Minimum pay: $27 per hour. Non-exempt.
Job Summary
The Youth Faith Development Coordinator leads faith development programming for youth. The YFDC will teach and guide the spiritual development of middle and high school members of our congregation in alignment with our mission, vision, and values. The YFDC will also collaborate with the Minister and Religious Education Committee in exploring systemic shifts in our Faith Development model as we respond to the needs of our community and new models for faith development. This position is supervised by the minister.
Duties
- Coordinate and Lead youth program 2-3 times a month.
- Adapt available curricula to meet the needs of our youth and program
- Provide feedback about curriculum to RE committee and minister
- Work with volunteers to mentor youth
- Welcome and orient new families and visitors.
- Publicize new program and special events via newsletter, email, and social media.
- Maintain organizational standards
- Communicate materials needs to RE committee and minister
- Maintain attendance records for youth and volunteers
- Ensure compliance with First Parish Beverly safety standards
- Reply promptly to email communication.
Qualifications
- Instructional experience with middle and high school youth in group settings. Experience supporting youth and their families as an education professional.
- Priority will be given to candidates who have experience with youth of diverse abilities, neurotypes, and racial/cultural backgrounds.
- Prior experiences, with references, in implementing curricula, including modifying lessons for diverse learners and for time and space requirements in the classroom preferred.
- Experience recruiting, cultivating, and inspiring volunteers.
- Comfort teaching Unitarian Universalist values. Prior experience with UU values and traditions helpful but not required.
- Able to affirm and support LGBTQIA+ individuals and families.

Accessibility. Our church sanctuary is accessible by ramp and Hale Hall (basement) is accessible by elevator. Our staff offices and meeting rooms are located on these two levels. There are four steps to reach our chancel and pulpit. Our balcony is used primarily for storage and is up a full flight of stairs. We are in the process of updating our sound system to include better access for those in our community who are hard of hearing.
