This Sunday at Hale Farm, Patty Freeman-Lynde will lead a timely discussion, given the Tokyo Olympics, of sports and mental health. What is your vision of being an American? Does it involve putting others first?
What is your reaction to Simone Biles’ withdrawal from some of her Olympic gymnastics events? What larger UU themes – such as racism, feminism, and individualism vs. collectivism – do you see at play here? What other takeaways have you found from around the globe at this year’s Olympic Games? Feel free to bring writings and your experiences with sports and mental health to support your ideas.
Summer services will be held at Hale Farm (39 Hale Street, Beverly) at 10:00 am. Those in attendance are to wear a mask and bring their own chair or blanket to sit on.
However, if there happens to be rain in the forecast for Sunday morning, please refer to the Zoom link for services which is posted in the upper right corner on the First Parish homepage: https://zoom.us/j/92762405253.
