In this month of “Deep Listening,” we have explored listening to ourselves and to one another. But what about those times when listening isn’t good for us? In this world, where nothing is absolute, this service reminds us that sometimes the healthiest practice is to not listen. Today we hold up this idea and explore it alongside our deeply held value of the inherent worthiness of all people, holding these sometimes divergent truths and affirming our own worthiness and place in what Mary Oliver calls “the family of things.”
