“Shedding Tears, Mending Tears”

The title of this week’s sermon turns on the two meanings of “tears”: the tears we shed upon feeling hurt or regret and the rips we must mend in human relatedness.  During this time of the Jewish High Holy Days, when one of the world’s great religious traditions reminds us of the place of atonement in the spiritual life, we’ll look at what’s involved in making amends.  How do you gather the courage to try to make something right?

What is required for a good apology and how do you go further toward restoration if possible?
